The Port of Long Beach handled 779,331 TEUs in June, marking its third-busiest June on record and a 10.6% increase compared with the same month last year. Imports rose 11% to 387,025 TEUs. Exports slipped 1.3% to 86,446 TEUs. Empty container volumes increased 14.1%to 305,860 TEUs. The port moved 4,829,578 TEUs during the first six months of 2026. That represents a 1.7% increase over the same period in 2025 and keeps the port on pace with its record year. “These results demonstrate the continued confidence cargo owners and supply chain partners have in us, the resilience of the supply chain and the continued demand for goods moving through our gateway,” said Port CEO Dr. Noel Hacegaba. Hacegaba said businesses continue to prepare for different trade scenarios as they build more resilient and diversified supply chains. Long Beach Harbor Commission President Frank Colonna said terminal operators and dockworkers have maintained efficient cargo flows during the busy summer shipping season. He added that the port continues to invest in infrastructure to strengthen its position as a trans-Pacific gateway. During the monthly Supply Chain Insight briefing, the port also highlighted several milestones achieved during Hacegaba’s first six months as CEO. These include the launch of the CargoNav digital cargo platform, the opening of the Cyber Defense Operations Center, progress on the Pier B On-Dock Rail Support Facility, and continued investment in zero-emission cargo handling equipment and green truck corridors. Looking ahead, Hacegaba said retailers are accelerating imports ahead of possible trade policy changes. “Businesses are preparing for volatility, not certainty,” he said. “Retailers are intent on restocking shelves while keeping prices as low as possible, helping to drive the frontloading we’re seeing right now.” The post Port of Long Beach posts double-digit cargo growth in June appeared first on Container News .
