Descartes Systems Group has introduced its new AI-enabled Free Trade Intelligence solution, designed to help manufacturers, importers and exporters lower costs by making more informed sourcing and trade decisions. The solution addresses a critical gap for organisations whose enterprise resource planning systems lack comprehensive global trade management capabilities, enabling faster qualification of goods for preferential tariff treatment, maximised duty savings and reduced compliance risk. The Descartes FTI AI solution is built on one of the industry’s most comprehensive libraries of rules of origin, covering more than 250 regimes globally, and integrates rules-of-origin analysis, regional value content calculations, tariff shift logic, supplier declaration management and explainable recommendations within a single auditable workflow. The platform uses AI to analyse bills of materials, tariff classifications, rules of origin and supplier declarations while retaining qualification logic for binding compliance decisions. It integrates with Descartes’ Global Trade Intelligence suite and ERP environments, embedding AI-powered qualification into existing trade compliance workflows. The solution delivers several practical benefits including faster duty savings decisions through AI-enabled analysis across multiple agreements, stronger audit readiness through documented reasoning and calculation trails, reduced manual supplier outreach through automatic requalification tracking, and more informed production and purchasing decisions through scenario modelling of sourcing alternatives.
