Tropical Shipping has ordered four Konecranes Gottwald ESP.6 Mobile Harbor Cranes to strengthen container handling in Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Konecranes booked the order in the second quarter of 2026. Delivery and commissioning are scheduled for Q2 2027. One crane will be deployed at Riviera Beach, Florida. One will go to St. Croix and two to St. Thomas. The cranes will be the first mobile harbor cranes ever installed in St. Croix and St. Thomas. Konecranes said the investment will significantly increase cargo-handling capacity at both ports. Tropical Shipping has used Konecranes equipment for more than 20 years. The new order introduces the company’s Generation 6 mobile harbor crane technology to the fleet. The diesel-electric cranes are designed to improve productivity while reducing fuel consumption and emissions. “For more than two decades, Konecranes equipment has delivered the reliability and performance we need,” said Kevin Blake, Director of Fleet Maintenance at Tropical Shipping. “Introducing the first mobile harbor cranes to St. Croix and St. Thomas is a major milestone for our cargo operations and reflects our commitment to improving efficiency and reducing emissions.” The agreement also includes Konecranes TRUCONNECT® remote monitoring.
