Image Credit: Hapag-Lloyd Container shipping firms Hapag-Lloyd and A.P Moller-Maersk are shifting another Asia-Europe joint service back to the Red Sea. The carriers have decided to make a structural change to their Gemini SE4 service, which will now sail via the Red Sea instead of around the Cape of Good Hope , Hapag-Lloyd said in an emailed update on Monday. The first westbound sailing on the new routing will be the Berlin Maersk . Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk said the Red Sea route provides a more direct and faster connection between Asia and Europe . They added that the safety of crews, vessels and cargo remains their highest priority and that they will continue to monitor the situation. The move follows the carriers' decision in July to return their AE15 service , connecting Asia with the Mediterranean and Europe , via the Suez Canal. The Gemini Cooperation was launched in 2024 as a long-term operational collaboration under which the two companies share vessel capacity.
