The Montreal Port Authority has announced the appointment of Anik Trudel as Chair of its Board of Directors, as part of a governance renewal cycle under the Canada Marine Act that also brings four new members to the Board. Trudel is Chief Executive Officer of Lavery and a lawyer by training, with nearly 40 years of experience with leading professional firms and organisations. Trudel has an extensive history with the MPA, having first served as a director from 2008 to 2017 and becoming the first woman to chair the organisation’s Board. Since returning to the Board in 2019, she has chaired the Contrecœur Committee and served on the Audit Committee and the Governance and Human Resources Committee. Her broader governance experience includes chairing the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal from 2022 to 2023 and holding positions on multiple boards across the business, cultural and philanthropic sectors. Trudel described the appointment as an honour, noting the port’s vital role in Canada and Quebec’s economic security and market diversification. She highlighted the Contrecœur terminal development as a pivotal chapter in the port’s history and expressed commitment to supporting the management team in delivering the project’s full benefits to communities and the economy.
