Kaleris has announced the acquisition of Newport Systems creating what the company describes as the industry’s only end-to-end M&R platform connecting the full asset lifecycle across marine terminals, inland depots, rail terminals, equipment owners and repair providers on a single operating model. Maintenance and repair remains one of the least automated workflows in global logistics, with estimates, approvals, exceptions and invoices still moving between equipment owners and repair providers through manual, document-driven processes requiring repeated data entry across multiple systems. The combined platform replaces this multi-day manual exchange with system-driven workflows, returning assets to service faster while providing both parties with a shared, auditable record of every decision. With the addition of Newport, Kaleris now offers continuous asset lifecycle management from terminal discharge through inland distribution, repair and return to service, spanning containers, chassis, reefers, gensets and railcars under a common M&R operating model. Newport contributes deep expertise in maintenance and repair operations alongside pre-trip inspection workflows, reefer monitoring, genset management and temperature monitoring, extending Kaleris’s reach into the most demanding supply chain segments. Central to the acquisition is Newport’s network of 25 live EDI integrations and deep connectivity with shipping lines, leasing companies and equipment owners, built over more than 20 years of industry relationships and representing a structural competitive advantage that would be difficult to replicate.
