Valenciaport handled 2,819,602 TEUs across the ports of Valencia, Sagunto and Gandia in the first half of 2026, a marginal increase of 0.20% compared to the same period last year. In June alone, 502,095 TEUs were processed, up 0.35% year-on-year. Import traffic was the primary driver of container growth during the period. Full import containers reached 559,825 units, an increase of 11.14% compared to the first half of 2025, while export containers declined modestly by 0.84% to 451,669 units. In tonnage terms, total cargo handled across the six-month period amounted to 39,917,708 tonnes, a 3.12% decrease year-on-year, with June recording 7,021,994 tonnes, down 0.62%. Cargo handling operations showed positive momentum overall, with total loading and unloading reaching 24,989,644 tonnes, up 1.63 percent. Unloaded cargo rose 6.43% to 12,763,943 tonnes, while loaded cargo declined 2.94% to 12,225,701 tonnes. Rail freight continued to be among the port’s strongest-performing indicators. Goods transported by rail reached 1,957,136 tonnes, up 19.51%, while rail container volumes grew 16.78% to 144,803 TEUs, reflecting the ongoing shift toward sustainable inland transport modes. China consolidated its position as Valenciaport’s leading trading partner, with 469,504 TEUs handled through June, a 25.14% increase, and tonnage exceeding 5.1 million tonnes, up 26.33%. The United States ranked second with 167,540 TEUs, though volumes declined 14.01%. Algeria handled 156,822 TEUs, down 3.78%, while Türkiye fell 24.95% to 97,833 TEUs and Italy declined 19.96% to 53,083 TEUs. In tonnage terms, Italy recorded more than 3.1 million tonnes and the United States nearly 3 million tonnes, both posting year-on-year declines.
