Port Hedland Iron Ore Exports Down In May in Dry Bulk Market , Port News 12/06/2026 Pilbara Ports delivered a total monthly throughput of 69.4 million tonnes (Mt) during May 2026. This was a one per cent decrease compared to May 2025. The Port of Port Hedland achieved a monthly throughput of 51.6Mt, of which 51Mt was iron ore exports. This was a three per cent decrease compared to May 2025. Imports through the Port of Port Hedland totalled 195,000 tonnes, an increase of 35 per cent compared to May 2025. The Port of Dampier delivered a total throughput of 13.6Mt, a three per cent decrease from May 2025. Imports through the Port of Dampier totalled 124,000 tonnes, resulting in no increase or decrease from May 2025. Several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, weather conditions, port maintenance operations and customer needs.
