COSCO SHIPPING Lines has launched its new Chancay Express Service 3 (CHX3), introducing the first regular weekly container service linking Paita and Chancay in Peru with Caldera in Costa Rica. The new route strengthens regional connectivity and supports more efficient supply chains across Latin America. Paita Port, a key container and cold-chain gateway in northern Peru, serves major agricultural, seafood, mining and textile regions, including Piura, Lambayeque and Cajamarca. The CHX3 service allows cargo to move directly from Paita to Chancay, where it connects with COSCO SHIPPING’s mainline services to Asia. The company said the new route will reduce transit times and lower logistics costs, including inland transport, warehousing and container demurrage. The service is expected to benefit exporters of temperature-sensitive cargo such as avocados, grapes and seafood, improving supply chain efficiency for refrigerated exports. The weekly service also strengthens connectivity for Caldera Port in Costa Rica. COSCO SHIPPING said the new link will shorten transit times, improve schedule reliability and enhance service levels for customers moving cargo between Central America and Asia. The launch further expands the role of Chancay Port as a regional transshipment hub following its integration into COSCO SHIPPING’s Latin American network.
