Maersk has announced several Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) revisions covering trade lanes across Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, Africa and North America. The new surcharges apply from 22 July, 1 August and 15 August 2026, depending on the trade. Maersk will introduce a US$300 per container PSS on shipments from the Far East to Jawaharlal Nehru, Mundra, Pipavav and Pakistan. The surcharge will apply from 22 July 2026 for most Asian origins and from 3 August 2026 for South Korea. It applies to all container sizes except spot bookings. The carrier has also revised its PSS from China and Hong Kong to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania. From 1 August 2026, the surcharge will be US$1,200 for 20-foot containers and US$1,800 for 40-foot and 45-foot containers. Maersk also announced higher PSS levels from the Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East to the US and Canadian West Coast. The surcharge will increase in stages. It will rise from US$3,000 per container to US$4,000 on 4 August. It will then reach US$5,000 from 15 August 2026 through 31 December 2026. The carrier also revised surcharges for shipments to the US and Canadian East Coast and Gulf Coast. The new levels vary by origin. For dry containers, the highest surcharge will reach US$5,800 from India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives to Houston. Shipments from Pakistan will increase to US$5,000, while cargo from Middle East origins will rise to US$3,000 from 15 August. Maersk also increased reefer surcharges on the same trade. Depending on the origin, the revised PSS will range from US$3,700 to US$4,000 per container from 15 August 2026. The carrier said all revised surcharges remain subject to applicable local and contingency charges.
