Qatar’s Ministry of Transport has announced the resumption of maritime navigation in designated coastal waters, lifting a temporary precautionary measure introduced earlier this month. The decision takes effect immediately. Navigation has resumed within a marine range of nearly seven nautical miles , extending from Lusail City , including its ports, anchorages and marine facilities, to Hamad Port in the east, and from Umm Heesh to Doha Salwa in the west. The ministry urged vessel operators to continue following all maritime regulations and ensure that the required safety and security equipment is carried on board before and during every voyage. As with the previous notice, vessels operating under international maritime conventions and in accordance with existing regulations remain exempt from the announcement. Qatar introduced the temporary navigation restriction on 12 July as a precautionary measure coordinated with the country’s security authorities. The restriction mainly affected leisure boats, fishing vessels and other local maritime craft, while internationally regulated commercial shipping continued to operate. The latest announcement comes amid heightened maritime security concerns across the Gulf following recent attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and the Houthis’ declaration of a maritime embargo targeting Saudi Arabia .
