Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA) has lowered its expectations for the 2026 financial year after operational disruptions from terminal modernisation projects, rail infrastructure works and a weaker-than-expected market environment affected performance. The company said automation work at its Hamburg container terminals and extensive rail network infrastructure projects had a greater impact on operations than initially anticipated. As a result, both container throughput and transport volumes have fallen short of previous expectations. HHLA also pointed to the challenging macroeconomic environment, ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and the lingering effects of severe winter weather earlier this year, which it no longer expects to fully recover during the remainder of 2026. For its Port Logistics subgroup, HHLA now expects a slight decline in container throughput compared with 2025, instead of the previously forecast significant increase. Container transport volumes are still expected to grow, but only slightly year-on-year, compared with the previous expectation of strong growth. The company continues to expect a significant increase in revenue for the Port Logistics business. However, it has lowered its forecast for operating profit (EBIT) to €135-155 million, down from the previous guidance of €160-180 million. Within the Real Estate subgroup, HHLA maintained its revenue outlook at the prior-year level but now expects a significant decline in EBIT. At Group level, HHLA still forecasts a significant increase in revenue during 2026. However, it has reduced its expected operating result (EBIT) to €150-170 million, compared with the previous guidance of €175-195 million. The revised outlook reflects the combined impact of operational constraints, infrastructure projects and continued uncertainty across global markets.
