File Image / Pixabay French shipping company CMA CGM has confirmed that one of its container ships was damaged in an Iranian attack in the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday . The CMA CGM San Antonio was targeted during the transit, resulting in injuries to several crew members and damage to the ship, the firm confirmed in a LinkedIn post on Wednesday. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) had previously reported that a cargo ship was hit by unknown projectiles in the Strait of Hormuz at 18:30 UTC on Tuesday . The incident had happened just hours before the US President Donald Trump announced a temporary pause to Project Freedom , the US maritime operation to help stranded ships pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Since the temporary halt, no vessel attacks have been reported in the Strait of Hormuz. “The CMA CGM Group confirms that one of its vessels, the CMA CGM SAN ANTONIO , was the target of an attack yesterday while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in injuries among crew members and damage to the vessel,” the company said in a statement. The injured seafarers have since been evacuated and are receiving medical treatment, according to the company. CMA CGM said it is closely monitoring the situation and remains fully mobilised alongside the crew.
