Image Credit: Island Oil Marine fuels firm Island Oil has appointed a new head of international trading in Dubai , UAE . Dimitris Mertikas has joined as the head of international trading as of this month, the firm said in a LinkedIn post on Tuesday . Mertikas brings almost two decades of experience in the bunker industry. He previously worked at Glander International Bunkering in Dubai from 2020 to 2025 , most recently serving as key account manager. Before that, he spent 13 years at Praxis Energy Agents DMCC , where he last held the position of senior manager, bunker trading. “He will enhance our trading capabilities and our knowledge of the Middle Eastern and Greek markets, while bringing strong leadership to the role,” Vangelis S Marinakis , COO at Island Oil, said. “Island Oil has built a strong reputation as a global supplier and trader, and I am looking forward to contributing to the next chapter of its growth and working alongside such a talented team,” Mertikas said in his LinkedIn job update.
