Lloyd’s Register (LR) has appointed Jens Grunenberg as Senior Representative for Germany , effective 1 September 2026. Based in Hamburg, Grunenberg will represent LR across the German maritime sector. He will also join the company’s Hamburg management team. He will continue to serve as LR’s Germany Commercial Manager, a position he has held since joining the organisation in July 2026. Grunenberg to strengthen LR’s presence in Germany In his new role, Grunenberg will focus on expanding LR’s engagement with shipowners, operators and other maritime companies across Germany. He will also support customers dealing with the energy transition, digital transformation and changing maritime regulations. “My priority is to ensure the German maritime community has direct access to LR’s expertise and the independent technical insight needed to make those decisions with confidence,” said Grunenberg. He added that he aims to strengthen LR’s presence in Germany and deepen its relationships with customers. More than 15 years of maritime experience Grunenberg brings more than 15 years of experience across ship operations, fleet management and technical leadership. A qualified marine engineer, he began his career in container shipping before moving into engineering and management positions across several vessel types. His previous employers include AIDA Cruises, Deutsche Fischfang Union and TUI Cruises. Most recently, Grunenberg served as Fleet Technical Director at Royal Caribbean Group. In that position, he was responsible for marine technical fleet operations for the TUI Cruises fleet. His appointment coincides with SMM 2026 in Hamburg , where LR is meeting shipowners, operators and maritime technology companies.
