ZIM Line and Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) have added JAXPORT to their ZCP-Amberjack container service, strengthening weekly connections between Jacksonville and Asia while expanding access to Latin America, the Caribbean and the Mediterranean. The Sapphire became the first vessel to call Jacksonville Port Authority (JAXPORT) under the new service. The weekly rotation links Qingdao, Ningbo and Shanghai in China, Busan in South Korea, Manzanillo in Panama, Cartagena in Colombia, Charleston, Savannah, Jacksonville, Kingston in Jamaica and returns to Busan. The service offers transit times of approximately 28 to 32 days from North Asia to Jacksonville. Through ZIM’s transshipment hubs in Kingston and Cartagena, customers can also access additional markets, including the west coast of South America. The service further expands connections to destinations across Latin America, including Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru and Guyana, while adding Aruba to JAXPORT’s Caribbean network alongside Curaçao and Panama. It also provides onward links to ports in Italy, Greece, Israel and Egypt, as well as stronger connectivity with China, Vietnam and Singapore. “We’re proud to continue building on our longstanding partnership with ZIM and MSC as they expand their service offerings at JAXPORT,” said Robert Peek, Chief Commercial Officer at JAXPORT. “This new service provides our customers with reliable connections to key Asian markets and expanded access to international destinations through an established global network.” The vessels deployed on the ZCP-Amberjack service are powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) and can be bunkered during calls at Jacksonville.
