Boluda Shipping is strengthening its rail operations as part of its wider intermodal logistics strategy following the integration of Transfesa’s rail business into its service portfolio. The rail activity operates within Boluda Logistics, the group’s land logistics division. It complements the company’s existing road transport and warehousing services. The move allows Boluda Shipping to further integrate rail and maritime transport within the same logistics chain. Boluda connects Madrid and Jerez by rail As part of the operation, Boluda Lines containers are transported by rail between Madrid and Jerez de la Frontera. From there, the containers continue their journey by sea through Boluda’s regular shipping services. The combined rail and maritime network provides connections between Northern Europe and several markets. These include the Iberian Peninsula, Canary Islands, Cape Verde and destinations across West Africa. The rail service uses intermodal wagons designed to transport maritime containers. According to Boluda, combining the two transport modes can improve cargo flows and strengthen the efficiency of international supply chains. Euro 4000 locomotive receives Boluda livery Boluda has also introduced its corporate livery on the Euro 4000 locomotive used in its rail operations. The locomotive now carries the company’s blue and red colours and its “B” emblem. The change reflects the integration of rail operations into Boluda Shipping’s wider logistics network following the addition of Transfesa’s rail business. Boluda is positioning rail as a key part of its intermodal strategy. The company aims to combine maritime and inland transport while developing more connected logistics services.
