BNSF Railway has announced an expanded intermodal service between the Phoenix metropolitan area and the Dallas-Fort Worth region, offering customers a faster, more economical and reliable freight solution between two of the Southwest’s fastest-growing markets. The enhanced service, driven by increased customer demand, will operate six days per week and is designed to support the conversion of over-the-road freight to rail. The Phoenix to North Texas route is offered in just over three days from train departure to availability, leveraging BNSF’s intermodal network efficiency and capacity. The service utilises the Alliance Intermodal Facility in North Texas, one of the nation’s premier inland logistics hubs, providing access to significant warehouse and distribution capacity and connectivity to major consumer markets across the United States. The expanded service also lays the groundwork for further capacity growth in Arizona. Construction is underway on Logistics Park Phoenix, BNSF’s second intermodal facility in the Phoenix area, with the first phase scheduled to open in early 2027. The facility is part of BNSF’s broader logistics park strategy, connecting industrial development with intermodal infrastructure to create additional supply chain efficiencies for customers. Jon Gabriel, BNSF Group Vice President of Consumer Products, described the expansion as a response to rapidly changing market conditions as customers seek capacity solutions ahead of the domestic peak shipping season while continuing to manage transportation costs. He framed the Phoenix and North Texas markets as representing significant opportunities for shippers and positioned the service expansion as a further step toward providing the infrastructure needed to support continued regional growth.
