The firm has ordered two 8,600-CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs), with options for two more vessels, from Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co , it said in an email statement on Monday . The ships will be the largest ever commissioned by the company and form part of its ongoing fleet renewal programme. The newbuilds will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG or conventional marine fuels. They will also be built with an ammonia-ready design to allow future conversion to ammonia propulsion. “With larger capacity, dual-fuel capability, and an ammonia-ready design, these ships give us the flexibility to serve growing market demand while continuing to invest in lower-emission transportation,” Hasan Sallaum , director of Sallaum Lines, said.
