Image Credit: Seaspan Maritime firm Seaspan Corporation has taken delivery of a dual-fuel LNG pure car and truck carrier (PCTC). The vessel, Glovis Lighthous e, is the first vessel in its new series of 10,800 CEU dual-fuel LNG PCTCs, Seaspan said in a statement on its website on Thursday . The vessel has also embarked on its maiden voyage under a long-term time charter to South Korean logistics firm Hyundai Glovis . With a capacity exceeding 10,000 CEU, the ship is among the largest car carriers currently in operation. According to Seaspan, the vessel's dual-fuel LNG propulsion system is expected to reduce carbon emissions by about 24% compared with conventional fuels. The ship is also equipped with technologies aimed at improving efficiency and reducing methane slip. The Glovis Lighthouse has been built with methanol- and ammonia-ready capabilities, allowing for the future adoption of alternative marine fuels as they become available.
