Cavotec has secured an €8 million contract to supply shore power systems for newbuild container ships operated by a leading global shipping company. The order includes Cavotec’s PowerAMPReel shipboard shore power systems, together with related equipment and services. Deliveries are scheduled for 2028 and 2029. The systems will allow the vessels to connect to shore power while alongside. This will help reduce emissions by enabling ships to switch off their auxiliary engines during port calls. Cavotec said it has supplied shore power systems to the customer for more than a decade. Once the latest order is completed, more than 350 vessels in the customer’s fleet will be equipped with the company’s technology. “This order reflects the continued confidence that leading global shipping companies place in our shore power solutions,” said David Pagels, CEO of Cavotec. “We are pleased to support the customer in its efforts to reduce carbon emissions while further strengthening our position in this growing market.” Shore power systems are becoming increasingly important as ports and shipping companies seek to cut emissions and comply with stricter environmental regulations.
